Product information "Kölner Classic Poliment"
Poliment is also known as bole – a clay-like substance. It is applied to the prepared surface, usually gesso. Gesso is a mixture of chalk and glue. The gold is then applied. The poliment enhances
the tone and lustre of the gold during the polishing/burnishing process. Remove with glue (skin glue or rabbit glue), gelatine or egg whites before application.
Every gilder usually develops its own formula. Poliment is available in „wet“, this is said it is already processed with water to a paste; as well as into „dry“, what must be still crushed and processed
with distilled water. A further construction is then carried out.
