Gold leaf in first class quality from our own production Gold leaf, loose The gold leaves are placed in paper booklets, loosely inlaid in 25 compartments, one for each leaf. To cut the leaf, one may take it from the booklet with the gilding knife and place it on the gilding cushion or drop it directly from the booklet onto the gilding cushion. Then, pick up the leaf with the gilder’s tip and place it onto the prepared surface. Gold leaf, patent (normal or lightly pressed) The individual gold leaves are pressed onto a tissue paper. One uses patent gold, also called tempest gold, when gilding outdoors. The tissue paper is larger than the gold leaf, thus it may be more easily handled. It is also possible to cut the patent leaves into desired shapes/forms with sissors. The leaves are placed onto the prepared surface (Instacoll system / oil gilding = mixtion), and carefully rubbed with cotton wool or Kölner tissue drapery. The tissue paper may then be removed as the gold leaf will adhere to the surface / object. For exterior gilding, we recommend from 23,75 cts on.   Kölner Gilders Duster, pure squirrel hair. Gilder's Duster oval, also known as Gilder's Mop made of pure squirrel hair placed in natural quills with wooden handles. The appropriate leaf metal shall be liable only where it has contact with the Mixtion. Excess or overlaying metal must be removed in the oil gilding technique.Kölner gilding products offers an specially adapted quality for high performance.

Processing instructions: It works on each hardened varnish underground.High gloss Polishing Creme is to be applied with cotton wool or brush. After drying for 1 or 2 minutes start polishing off residuelessly with clean cotton wool. If the underground comes off a little(e.g. at a yellow high gloss varnish - yellow discolorations in the cotton wool) this is no defect or an impairment. After polishing off cleanly the Oil-Mixtion is to be applied quickly with a bristlebrush. The Oil-Mixtion has to be removed immediately (no dawdling!!!) with a fl uff free cloth until almost no more Oil-Mixtion can be recognized. The gold leaf in loose or transfer, can be laid outafter approx. 13-15 hours drying time. The process time of the gold leaf is approx. 2 - 4 hours, dependent of the room temperature and the prevailing atmospheric humidity, that is previous testsare necessary. Right after gilding, but at the utmost up to 4 hours, the gold leaf can be polished to a high gloss with a clean cotton wool. Please take absolutely care that the cotton wool does notcontain any pollutions (e.g. brown points). These hard pieces lead to scratches in the polish.
