Gold powder (gold flakes) has a wide range of applications. It is used in the restoration of historical objects, in the gilding of delicate details, as well as in technical applications, such as in the high-tech industry. The fine flake structure, with a size of less than 45 micrometers, enables particularly precise work even on the smallest structures.

Compared to traditional leaf gilding, powdered gold offers decisive advantages: It is ideal for highly textured surfaces, undercuts, and the smallest objects, where gold leaf is difficult to apply.

Kölner Permacoll Base P

Adhesive for powder gold, suitable for the interior and exterior field. Permacoll Base P is applied with a soft brush. Depending on the thickness of the coating and environmental conditions, powder gold can be applied to the sticky film after approx. 15-60 minutes. Gilding in the interior can be burnished with agate stones. The workpiece has to be coated with 2 layers of Kölner KGGG Fond, before gilded and burnished.The surface can be burnished after 24 hours.Available packaging unit: 100 ml, 500 ml, 1.000 ml

Powder Gold

Powdered gold is used both in restoration work and in technical applications (e.g., in aerospace technology). Powder gold in flake form, particle size < 45 μm. Powder gold flakes and powder silver flakes are applied with a brush (for dusting) to the special adhesive base for powder gold, “Kölner Permacoll P”. Weather-resistant gilding offers advantages over traditional leaf gilding, especially in the case of deep undercuts or very small objects. Application: The adhesive base “Kölner Permacoll P” is applied generously with a synthetic hair brush and immediately dusted with powder gold. It is recommended to coat only small areas at a time. After drying, all fine details of the substrate become visible again. Even the finest engravings are preserved. The open time is very short, enabling fast working. After a drying time of 24 hours, the powder gilding can be burnished with an agate polishing stone to smooth the surface and adjust the level of gloss. A matte-to-gloss finish is therefore possible. Gilding with powder gold is significantly more scratch-resistant than leaf gilding and, from 23 karats, weather-resistant. Available in 1 g, 2 g, 5 g, or 10 g packages. Application & Processing of Powdered Gold

Powdered gold is processed in combination with the special adhesive base Kölner Permacoll P . The application is efficient and enables professional results:

Apply the adhesive base generously with a synthetic hair brush
Immediately dust with powdered gold
Work in sections for optimal results
After drying, even the finest details and engravings remain visible

Thanks to the short open time, particularly fast work is possible. After about 24 hours, the surface can be treated with an agate polishing stone , to achieve the desired level of gloss – from matte to high gloss.

Another advantage: Gildings with powdered gold are significantly more scratch-resistant than gold leaf gildings and, from 23 carats, also weather-resistant, making them ideal for indoor and outdoor use.
