We are delighted to offer a joint creative workshop. Lara Haferung, master gilder, will introduce you to the unique combination of traditional gilding craftsmanship and contemporary artistic techniques. In this workshop, you will learn how to combine delicate gilding methods with painterly expression. Discover a wide range of creative possibilities, from careful surface preparation and gold leaf application to imaginative surface effects and color accents. Creative Gilding Techniques with Kölner Products April 24, 2026 To begin this workshop, we will focus on the exciting interplay between matte and glossy gilding. Using Kölner Instacoll and Permacoll, we will design a frame that is enhanced with color through a refined combination with Kölner Caselo. In the next step, participants will learn how to apply expressive patterns and decorative designs using Kölner Signcoll and Archicoll, along with a selection of stencils—ideal for special accents and individual design ideas. The workshop concludes with the application of Kölner Miniatum on canvas, a technique that combines modern gilding with artistic expression. VAT) The courses include consumable materials, catering, and beverages.Kintsugi Aesthetics Meets Calligraphy April 25, 2026 On Saturday, workshop participants can look forward to a very special highlight: the artistic world of Kintsugi aesthetics. Using the Kölner Fine Detail Kit, we will create delicate gilding inspired by the Japanese art of repair, which does not conceal cracks but refines and celebrates them. In addition, we will explore the use of Kölner Miniatum, a special adhesive for fine calligraphy on paper and for gilding one’s own handwriting. The finale is painting on gold leaf, where traditional techniques meet contemporary creativity as we work with brush and paint on the precious golden surface. This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn new techniques, experiment with high-quality materials, and further develop your own artistic signature. Poliment gilding – March 13, 2026 This course opens the golden gate to classic poliment gilding. In this course, participants learn traditional genuine poliment gilding, including the complete construction of a chalk base. Dietmar Feldmann reveals his original recipes, collected over 40 years, including the recipe for Cologne poliment. Course participants will gild themselves and then polish the gold leaf to a high shine with an agate stone. Error prevention and tricks for optimal results are also covered, as well as insights into the practical experience of our master gilder, Mr. Dietmar Feldmann. Course fee: €295.00 (incl. VAT)Materials, meals, and beverages are included in the course fee. Modern leaf gilding Part 2 – March 14, 2026Immerse yourself in the world of contemporary gilding techniques! This is the advanced course to the seminar Modern Leaf Gilding Part 1. The course deepens the application possibilities of Cologne Instacoll and Permacoll and demonstrates further modern areas of use. The participants gild stucco elements in finishes ranging from matte to mirror gloss and learn their combined application. In addition, the participants metallize with composition metal and copper and learn how to properly protect them afterward with Cologne Zaponlack GL. You will learn how to optimally prepare substrates, process adhesives professionally, and apply metal leaf cleanly. Furthermore, we share valuable tips from everyday workshop practice with you and take time for individual questions and issues.
